The Phone Call from Hell - Part One

I bought my first mobile phone back in 1995, not long after I started working in my first full-time job. I had no need for it of course, and calls were really expensive (thanks Telstra) so I tended not to make many of them, but I enjoyed being contactable any time of the day and night. I spent my first two years under contract with One.Tel (RIP), then a two year contract with Optus, then I moved to Vodafone. Since that time with Voda, I've kept the same number - even though I've moved carriers, I've moved the number with me and had it for about 17 years. I won’t be changing again.

Nigerian Scammers Part 3

So, we’ve come to the end. This is the final instalment of my adventure with the Nigerian Scammer, Robert S Dewar. So far, I have my wife tied up and drugged so that I can come to Nigeria and collect an ATM card linked to an account with $2.5 million, all for me. What else can I do?

Nigerian Scammers Part 2

Earlier, I wrote about some emails between me and the Nigerian Scammer, Robert S Dewar. If you will indulge me, I would like to continue the story.

Nigerian Scammers FTW

I love getting email. Really, I do. Those little packets of goodness can sometimes lead us on an a once in a lifetime adventure. And so it was for me recently, when I got an email from a Nigerian scammer by the name of Robert S Dewar.

The day Barack Obama almost had me arrested - Part VI

I try and not take life too seriously. The more I make people laugh, the better I feel. And so it was when I made my crack about Barack Obama owing me money.

The day Barack Obama almost had me arrested - Part V

When we touched down in Chicago, and were taxiing to our Arrival Gate, the Flight Attendant announced that Air Force One was with us.

The day Barack Obama almost had me arrested - Part IV

Being an island, Australia has a vast number of beaches. Of all the beaches that stretch the coastline near Sydney, Manly Beach would be my favourite.

The day Barack Obama almost had me arrested - Part III

On the night before I was due to fly home, I went to this well-known bar in Rochester called Dinosaur BBQ. I had been there twice before, on the Monday after I arrived when I was wandering the streets looking for a place to have lunch, and again on the Thursday night with some colleagues - Dan and Jerry from the US and Jo and Emma from England.

The day Barack Obama almost had me arrested - Part II

I suppose i should mention the difference in temperature between Sydney and Rochester in February.  A typical day would see the temperature in the 30s in both cities, the only difference being the scale used to measure it.

The Day Barack Obama almost had me arrested

In February 2009, I had the pleasure of travelling to the United States as the representative of my employer to take part in a 4 day global conference. It was only the second time I had ever been to the USA, so I was excited as you might expect. My destination was Rochester, New York.

The Day I Almost Broke the Law

One day, I was driving to university. It was 1993, but that's about all I remember. It could have been any of the four seasons, though i do recall that the day was overcast. The day itself is not important, but as I type some details are slowly coming back to me. It's weird how the human mind works like that.
